Mr. Olsen joined the firm in 1999 and began a practice of defending large developers and general contractors in various litigation cases, including mold personal injury claims, construction defect, and mechanic’s lien cases. He has defended his clients in disputes with State and local entities and neighboring property owners; in arbitrations; in courts throughout California; and participated in hundreds of mediations. Currently, he devotes a large amount of his practice defending his clients from mold claims involving property damage, remediation claims and alleged personal injuries. His background in biology, mycology and related sciences, such as biochemistry, has been crucial in understanding the claims and the strategy to defend them. He works with leading industrial hygienists, microbiologists, immunologists and toxicologists to strengthen his cases. Mr. Olsen graduated in 1993 from the State University of New York, at Buffalo, with a B.A. in Political Science and a Minor in Biology. He earned a J.D. through the University of San Diego in 1996. Prior to joining the firm, he practiced business, corporate, real estate, bankruptcy and Americans with Disability Act (ADA) litigation in La Jolla, California.
